Herminia Seville Escalante

It is with profound sadness to share the passing of our beautiful mother, Herminia "Minnie" Seville Escalante, who left her earthly journey on August 23, 2023 on to a heavenly one. Mom, a native Phoenician, was born on November 26, 1931 to her parents James and Agripina Seville. She is predeceased by her Aunt and Uncle, Miguel and Matilde Duarte, whom she spent most of her adolescence and known within her neighborhood and community as "La Paloma Blanca." Mom is survived by her four children - Anna, Arnold, Arthur, and Rebecca, son-in-law Tony, one grandson Anthony, and great grandchildren. Mom was the second of five children; all but one has predeceased her. Her youngest sister, Betty Villa, is her surviving sibling including many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mom was a devout Catholic who was intricately involved with her parish, St. Anthony's Church, and a member of the Guadalupanas for decades. Her prayer life was exemplary and took great joy in reciting the Holy Rosary every day. She was a very charitable person, a dedicated homemaker who relished in cooking and baking. Mom had a love of sweets! Always involved in our school activities, she decided to embark on a teacher's assistant career with the Phoenix Elementary School District. Upon retiring, she remained dedicated in her involvement with church volunteering for many years in their annual fiesta. Her love of family and gatherings brought immense joy. She loved listening to Mariachi music, singing, watching her favorite Westerns and classic TMC movies, playing bingo, and poker. Mom was quite photogenic whose infectious smile radiated beautifully throughout. Although Mom will forever remain in our hearts, we will miss her immensely. We are confident and take much solace in the fact that she now resides in God's Paradise. Please join us in the celebration of life Mass to be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023. Viewing will commence at 8:30 a.m. prior to the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30. Internment services to be held at Holy Cross Cemetery located in Avondale.
