Jose "Joe" Cortina, 69 of Tolleson, Arizona, went home March 27, 2018 after suffering a heart attack. Joe served honorably in the army during the Vietnam War. He was a jokester who always had a way of making others laugh, known to be the life of the party. He had a heart to help anyone in need, willing to go the extra mile. He loved being outside gardening and building things specializing in woodworking. Prior to going to work for JBS, he owned and operated his own butcher shop on Monroe street in Tolleson. All that knew Joe will definitely never forget him. He always went above and beyond, whether it was at home or work, and will be deeply missed. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, tata, and a good friend. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Cortina, and two brothers, Leonard Cortina and Ralph Cortina. He is survived by his wife, Jody Cortina, his children, Sonya, Marisa, JC, and Matthew. Step-children, Marissa, Irene, Michael, Maria, and Mirna. Joe also leaves behind six grandchildren, five sisters, and three brothers. No words can express the emptiness in our hearts by his departure, he will be greatly missed.
