Keith Michael Hammond
Family and friends, we celebrate the life of Keith Hammond, of the Phoenix, AZ area. Keith passed away at 62 on November 2, 2025 after a brave 5 year battle with cancer, with God’s strength, courage, and grace. Keith grew to be a man of quiet strength and deep love. Even in his hardest moments, he never lost his sense of humor or his love and concern for his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Keith was born on June 22, 1963 in Chicago, IL as the youngest child of the late Jettie and Margaret Hammond. From the time he was a kid he loved sports and music with baseball and basketball being his favorite sports. He and his siblings spent countless hours playing baseball growing up, starting with balled up pieces of notebook paper in the house batting with just their hands or a ruler before they were old enough to go to the school yard on their own and use an actual bat and rubber baseball.
Keith taught himself to play several musical instruments starting with a piano in the basement of his childhood home. He enjoyed sharing his love of music with others and as an adult taught music to many. Keith also achieved a life long dream of becoming a music teacher for children and adults and he directed several church choirs.
In the midst of his sickness, Keith taught us all what it means to face adversity with dignity and to cherish every moment we are blessed to have together. Though he is no longer with us, Keith's legacy of love for God, family, music and sports, with a spirit of resilience will live on in all of our hearts.
Keith was a devoted family man that cherished spending time with his wife of more than three decades Annie (Ann), his two daughters Rochelle (Mimi) and Kisha, and his six grandchildren Keith, Joshua, Aniyah, David, Antijuan (Tre), and Laylah. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all of them.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Gary, Willie (Junior), James (Sonny), and his sister Phyllis. He is survived by brothers Charles and Benard and sisters Ida Carol, Sharon, Marchelle, Renee’, Naomi, and Kimberly (Kim) as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Keith rest peacefully, in the arms of our Lord.
Keith was cremated and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
