Ramiro G Elizondo passed away on May 15, 2024 at his home in Tolleson, Arizona holding the hand of his loving wife, Janie. He was 85 years old. He was born on April 24, 1939 in Reynosa, Mexico. The oldest son of Rogelio and Araceli (Garcia) Elizondo, he was one of 12 siblings. With a love of music and beautiful voice, he aspired to be a singer. Life, however, took a different path for him.
In 1960, he married Rueva Gonzalez and they had 7 children together. They spent their lives in western Idaho, living in labor camps and working in the fields. Rueva passed away in 1973. A few years later he remarried and had 3 additional children.
Ramiro was a hard worker. He enjoyed being on a tractor and worked late into the night tilling and planting with pride. He always enjoyed his music and dancing. On his time off, he would spend hours singing to his favorite songs by Ramon Ayala and Vicente Fernandez.
On March 6, 2005, Ramiro found happiness again when he married his “amor”, Janie (Ruiz). They lived in Idaho Falls for many years, spending time with children and grandchildren, gardening, listening to music, and dancing. They moved to the Phoenix area in 2012 to enjoy the warm weather and to spend time with all of Janie’s sisters and brothers.
Ramiro is survived by his loving and caring wife, Janie. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Evangelina and son, Ramiro Jr,. He is survived by his other children from Rueva: Yolanda (Tony) Suarez, Jesse Elizondo, Rita (Armando) Fregoso, Jose Luis (Nancy) Elizondo, Alejandra Elizondo; his second set of children: Julio, Esperanza, and Rogelio; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Yolanda, Nora, Gloria, Mari, Guillermina, Leticia, Gracie, Sally and brothers, Ruben and Roy; step-children; and many nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, daughter, son, grandson, and sister, Elva.
He leaves behind many family and friends who will remember his zest for life, music, and dancing. May you be singing mariachi in the heavens, Ramiro. Rest in Peace.
