Along with his beloved grandchildren Ayla MaRae Barela and Xander (Xanderman) Barela. He is also survived by his former son-in-law Abe Barela; and his best friend and apprentice Mark Matson. He will be missed by numerous friends whom he loved and supported unconditionally. He touched and changed many lives and was truly the most generous and giving person. I am greatly saddened to hear of Rich’s passing. While I had personally lost touch with him over the years the memories are fond. Our High School days at Washington High School and the years after as we all worked our way through college and other phases of our lives were memorable, filled with fun, laughter, and good friends. Always the life and happiness of our group Rich will be missed greatly but remembered fondly. To his children and grandchildren I offer the following; he was a special person to me personally and he taught me much about seeing the best in others and living life to the fullest. Cherish his memory. I know I certainly will.
