Albert F. Hayden Jr., 84, of Pine Beach, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Newark, NJ, to Albert and Ethel Hayden, and lived in Jackson before moving to Pine Beach 19 Years ago. He served as Staff Sergeant for the Army during the Korean War. Albert retired from Bell Atlantic in Freehold as a Central Office Technician after 40 years of service. He was a distinguished runner and race walker. Albert belonged to the Ocean Running Club and the Jersey Shore Running Club, among his many accomplishments he ran the Jersey Shore Marathon just months after open heart surgery finishing #825 of 3000 participants. He also participated in both the NY and Boston Marathons. Active in many community programs and always willing to volunteer, Al will be dearly missed by his loving family, friends, and neighbors.
Albert is survived by his three sons: Michael Hayden and his wife Theresa, John Hayden and his wife Heidi, and Kevin Hayden and his wife Jurgita; and was a proud Grandpa to six wonderful grandchildren: Christopher, Benjamin, Alec, Ethan, Olivia, and Tessa. He is also survived by his brother James Hayden; and his four sisters: Maryann Miller, Peggy Schel, Patricia Pirog, and Maureen Banias and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 5th from 4 to 8PM with a service at 6PM. Burial will be Monday, November 6th, at 10:30AM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
