Born in Staten Island, he lived there until moving to Toms River twenty-five years ago.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Swanton was a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic for over 20 years at ADP, Jersey City.
He retired from the US Naval Reserve in 2005 after serving for 25 years.
He was a member of the Islanders Motorcycle Club, Staten Island; the Old Guard of Toms River; and the American Legion, and the Pinelands Antique Engine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Magee; his daughter Dawn Swanton and her husband Brian Armstrong of Bayville; his son Erik Swanton and his wife Mara of Sayreville; six grandchildren, Brittany, Ryan, Paxton, Vaughn, Isabella, and Riley; and a brother, Robert Swanton of Houma, AZ.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Funeral services will be held at 8:30pm at the Funeral Home.
Cremation will be private.
