

Alice Morahan, 84, of Ortley Beach, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was born to Lithuanian-American immigrants in Elizabeth, NJ on Oct. 24, 1929. Upon the death of her parents, she was raised by her extended family of aunts and uncles. Alice attended Battin High School and worked for John Hancock Insurance Company until her marriage to John T. "Jack" Morahan III, who later became controller of the Singer Sewing Machine plant in Elizabeth. Alice is survived by three children, Thomas John Morahan, daughter, Jane Ann Nelson and son, Robert Joseph Morahan; three grandchildren, Christopher Vanoy Nelson, Lianna Morahan and Sierra Alicia Morahan; daughter-in-law, Alexis Alfasso Morahan and son-in law, Vanoy Nelson Jr. Later in life, Alice and Jack had the good fortune to live around the U.S. and in Rome before their retirement to Ortley Beach. Alice was a communicant and Rosarian at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Seaside Heights up until her death.Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 100 Grant Ave., Seaside Heights. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
