Andrew was born on March 23, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rosemary Slier (White); his son and daughter-in-law Andrew Mark and Dolores Slier; his son Thomas Michael Slier and wife Awilda; and his two granddaughters, Melissa Allison and her fiancé Adrian and Janice Marie and her fiancé Kyle. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Slier.
Andrew was a Corporal in the United States Army where he served in World War II in the European Theater and eventually in North Africa. Andrew worked as a Supervisor for Brooklyn Union Gas Company before retiring in 1984. He later moved to Lakewood in 1997 to be near his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Andrew was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always put the needs of others above his own. He lived for his family and always enjoyed get togethers with them. Andrew looked forward to a home cooked meal, his 5:00 o’clock wine spritzer and a good head massage. Andrew’s granddaughters will always remember how he liked to live life in the fast lane. His cheerfulness and zest for life to the very end will be deeply missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ.
His urn will be placed in a niche at Ocean County Memorial Park on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11 AM.
