Anna Buys (nee Kostelnik) of Manchester, NJ went home to Jesus on November 24, 2023, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family and fur babies.
Predeceased by her husband Abram Buys, and her sons, James (Jim), Ken and Jackie; her parents, Anna and Stephen and ten siblings.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Englehardt of Manchester; her grandson, William John (B.J.) Englehardt and his fiancé, Jessica Marvin of Brooklyn; her grandson, Jack Buys of Miami; and her great-granddaughter, Ella of Miami; as well as many nieces and nephews, especially, Lisa Pimm, Allison Kostelnik, Vincent Sauro and Jamie Franklin; and her beloved pets, Lucifer and Shadow.
Anna will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a gentle, caring, loving Mom, Grammie, Aunt, and friend. She had a deep love for her children and grandchildren and was nurturing and supportive of everyone. She was dedicated to her family, the joy of her life. Everybody loved “Aunt Annie”. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and St. Jude.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, as a child moved to Wilkes Barre, PA with her family, and then to Passaic, NJ where she raised her family. In later years, she lived with her daughter and grandson, Will, in Hardwick, NJ and then Toms River, and lastly, at her home in Manchester.
Anna skipped two grades in grammar school and was very wise. She was a homemaker, waitress, election worker and at age 70 became a Certified Home Health Aide.
She was an avid Bingo player and loved to play cards with her family (especially B.J.), who was totally devoted to his Grammie and would sit with her for hours. She also enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City.
Anna sang and danced the night away at her recent 100th Birthday Celebration. She was so proud to reach 100 and shared the evening with her beloved family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Lakehurst, NJ.
A Celebration of Life will follow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, her favorite charity.
