AnneMarie Wilson Linde took her last breath at 4:19 am on Tuesday May 21, 2024 while on hospice care in a rehabilitation center in Toms River, NJ. Although she had several health issues, we honestly believe Annie died of a broken heart. Annie's life story is one of heartbreak and hope.
Annie tragically lost both her parents in her early 20's, leaving her and brother Harold, aka Hack, alone in this world. Hack lost his battle to cancer just a few years ago.
AnneMarie was born April 5th, 1952 in Hoboken, Hudson County N.J. She resided on Cantello Street in Union City and was a graduate of Union Hill High School. Annie often told the family she "never felt more beautiful in my life then the day my Senior photos were taken". AnneMarie worked for Lobels, a department store on Bergenline Ave., as well as the Union City Violations Bureau until retiring and leaving the city life to move upstate to McDonough, New York with John Wayne Linde. Together they purchased 15 acres of Gods Country, right in the middle of the woodlands just outside Binghamton, N.Y. They built a home, dug an oversized pond, added many tree stands and trails. Together they lived a wonderful life in the country for many years. John's late brother, Michael, bought property in the same area and AnneMarie was in her glory to have more family close by. While John and Michael would hunt or fish, Annie enjoyed taking photographs of nature around their property.
When she met John Wayne Linde in 1989, she took on the motherly role to his young adult children, Regina Marie Linde and Staff Sergeant John David Linde (KIA 2007). Over the years, AnneMarie had been blessed with six grandchildren, Dylan, Janelle, Marcus, Anya, Victoria and Erika and six great-grandchildren, Malakyh, Anastrianna, Christopher, Henry, Darrien and Amelia. Being involved in family activities brought Annie so much joy.
Annie and Johnny opened their home in upstate NY both to Regina & John along with their children for months at a time. They hosted many "Linde Family Fun Weekends" before moving south to Toms River, NJ in October of 2010. Still wanting to be close to family, AnneMarie and John moved across the street, just "a stone's throw away," to John's then aging, late father, Carl Maynard Linde and his late sister, Marilyn. They lived a few short blocks away from to Dees daughters, Sherry and Denise and just seven minutes from John's sister, Chrissy, husband Richie Ferlisi and their girls. Within the last few years, John's other sister, Margaret Linde, also bought a home five minutes away. Family fun days resumed at the Jersey Shore in Toms River for the past 15 years.
John recently passed away in January of 2023, just 15 months after his sister Marilyn and a year after his brother Mike. Annie was devastated to say the least. Johnny was her whole life. The past few years John lost his eyesight and AnneMarie was his lifeline. She was his everything and he hers. They depended on each other and showed us all the true meaning of love. Annie spent her days enjoying shopping trips with Dee or Chrissy and watching Hallmark movies while John listened to his audio books. She especially loved the Christmas movies, even in the middle of the summer. While taking care of John, Annie turned to television for her companionship, always afraid to leave his side, and phone calls were her lifeline to the family she loved most.
The cousins AnneMarie kept in touch with over the years brought on such joyful conversations. She reconnected with a cousin Mark in the past few months and I know having her side of a family connection meant the world to her. AnneMarie so looked forward to any family visitors and welcomed them with open arms. Always wanting to hug hello and goodbye. AnneMarie's many nieces & nephews were deeply loved. Annies grandchildren and great grandchildren were showcased in photos on her dining room table. Being involved in family activities brought Annie so much joy. AnneMarie has grown in all of our Linde hearts over the last 35 years. Thank goodness for Facebook where she was able to see photos and share the joy of the families of everyone she loved!
AnneMarie Wilson Linde honestly loved her family more then life itself and she will forever be in our hearts. Rest Easy Annie. We'll meet ya on the other side. May angels lead you in....
In lieu of flowers the family requests for donations to be made in memory of AnneMarie, to your local food bank.
