Arnold Francis Horvath ("Arnie"), 74, originally of Milltown, NJ, passed away October 28th, 2023 alongside his loving wife of 48 years, Bernice, in Toms River, NJ, where they resided for the past 14 years. Arnie was born on June 4th, 1949 to the late Frank and Margaret (Wolfe) Horvath and graduated, with a degree in Economics, from Seton Hall University in 1971. Instilled with an everlasting work ethic, Arnie made quite the name for himself as a banking executive in a career spanning over 50 years; starting with Town & Country Bank, and its successor Summit Bancorp, to Founding Director and President of Prestige State Bank and its successors Commerce Bank and TD Bank N.A., through Metro Bank and his position as Head of SBA Lending at Republic Bank. Arnie was a true ambassador of the entrepreneurial spirit, carving a niche in the SBA lending world and always achieving high recognition in the State of New Jersey as a leading (and often #1) SBA Lender, for total dollars committed. Always leading by example and a great sense of humor, he was truly one-of-a-kind; a wonderful mentor to many and a real friend to his clients, who knew that a deal shouldn't take all day and a handshake usually sealed it.
Arnie was a fun-loving, supportive husband, a proud father and the best backscratching grandpa. He also truly loved sharing stories and jokes with his friends and colleagues. Vacationing in Aruba, spending time in Naples, FL and living at the dream home that he and Bernice built together, on the water in Toms River, are all of the places where he most loved being with his family. Watching the Yankees and collecting cars were other passions of Arnie's, although Bernice was often not thrilled with the latter hobby, and wild colored Vettes were some of his favorites.
Arnie is predeceased by his mother Margaret Horvath (Wolfe), father Francis Horvath, both of Milltown, NJ, and sister Patricia Malyk (Horvath) of Wilmington, NC. Arnie was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law and is survived by his wife, Bernice Horvath (Soley), daughter Kristin Kudla (Horvath) and son-in-law Kyle Kudla, of Flemington, NJ; daughter Kelly Madden (Horvath) and son-in-law Lee Madden, of Mount Laurel, NJ, along with his 3 beautiful grandchildren: Hailey, Taylor and Sean Madden.
We will miss him dearly but know that, with our faith and God's Grace, he will always be with us.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 6th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-9pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home of Toms River, NJ. Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, November 7th at Saint Justin the Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, NJ. Entombment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church Mausoleum in Annandale, NJ.
Arnie’s granddaughter Hailey was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 4. He always wished for a cure in her lifetime. To make a donation in Arnie's name, follow the link https://www.jdrf.org/donate/. and select Memorial Donation and fill out the information.
