I grew up with my cousin Barton   Our families lived close by each other in Brooklyn. We often visited aunt Rose , uncle George , Marilyn and Barton  They were our extended family. They lived on Wilmore street  I remember lots of fun  watching Bart and Bobby play  stoop ball on the front steps of the apartment building. As a young man, Barton was in charge of all the electrical work in the construction of the Annenberg building in Mt Sinai hospital in Manhattan.  By coincidence I was working there at the same time as a pharmacist.  We met often and he did a great job. All my life Barton was a  kind and a gentle man  He always made me feel good. He was always a pleasure to be with. Gloria, Shari and Eric and their families are an example of Barton’s devotion of love and caring for family. I am sorry I can’t attend services. Dear Gloria, Sharon, Eric, and the rest of the family, my sincere condolences from your cousin Bryan in Boston.  Barton was an important person in my life growing up in Brooklyn, as the son of my beloved Aunt Rose and Uncle George, along with his sister Marilyn.  My parents, my two brothers Bob and Stu, and I visited them all frequently.  He never failed to make me happy in his presence.  He was good natured to the core, like his parents.  When I got out of college, Bart helped me get a job in his electrical contracting company.  We always enjoyed sharing stories about our time growing up together, and even though he was 16 years older (almost to the day, being born also on the same day of the month as my mother), he felt like a brother to me.  I know he certainly felt that way to my own brothers.  We last talked two years ago, when he and you came to my sister-in-law Gloria's funeral.  He was as engaging and interested in worldly affairs and politics as always, and we had a number of memorable conversations.  The many good deeds he did, especially with his marriage and raising his family,  and his deep love for you all, certainly live on.  His professional life was of great value to others in the construction business.  I am very sorry to miss the funeral because of work responsibilities up here in Boston.  Please accept my apologies for that.  Bart deserves to be remembered as a truly noble person with a big heart and a keen mind, a truly stellar combination.  We will all miss him greatly.  But I will always remember his ubiquitous smile, which he unfailingly showed for me and my family whenever we saw him.  He was a real mensch, in the best meaning of that important word. I am thinking of you on this sad day and hope these words of sincere praise for a truly good man are of some comfort to you.  Much love to you all and again my deepest condolences. I only met Bart a few times recently when visiting his neighbors Gina & Mark who are friends we had in common, but he was always friendly, welcoming, interesting to talk with and had a great sense of humor.  I’m sure he will be missed by many.  My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, children, and the rest of the family.  May his memory be a blessing.

Bart and I shared a great love for books. One time I shared a book with him that I found impressive.  A week later he gave me another of the author's books with a note: "I hope this book is as good as the last one!" It was. You could never outdo Bart. He was always a class act. I will miss him.
