

Born in Manhattan, Carol grew up on Dyckman Street between the Inwood Hill and Washington Heights neighborhoods of New York City.
She moved to Bergen County in the mid 1960's, and to Ocean County in the early 1980's, eventually settling in Leisure Village.
Carol was a graduate of George Washington High School, New York City.
As a single mom, she worked as a Lab Technician at Hackensack Hospital, and returned to college later in life.
She studied Microbiology at Farleigh Dickinson University, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. She worked as a Microbiologist at Shulton Inc., Clifton.
A faithful Christian, she was a member of Jesus is Lord Fellowship Church, Toms River.
Carol enjoyed attending bible study, and enjoyed opening her home for bible study groups and listening to Christian music.
Predeceased by her husband Leroy Ritchings in 2000, she is survived by her children, Tricia LaValle and her husband Fred of Stamford, CT, John (Jay) Mayo, Jr. and his wife Anita of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and Maureen Fosgreen and her husband Paul of Jackson, NJ; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Johnny, Erin and Kyle.
Viewing will be on Thursday morning from 10-11 am at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, with services beginning at 11:00.
Interment will follow at 12:30pm at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
