Born in Newark, NJ, on September 1, 1942, to Henry A. and Jenny Skalski, Chet graduated from Weequahic High School. He met the love of his life, Ethel, at a New Year’s Eve party in 1960, and they married on November 28, 1964 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Newark, NJ.
The couple moved to the Jersey Shore, where Chet worked as a Lab Technician for Ciba Geigy. He was known for his passion for cycling, basketball, tennis, music, movies, and good food.
Chet is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ethel; his son, Chester Jr., and daughter-in-law Christine; his daughter, Lori, and son-in-law Erik, and their beloved dog Satchmo; his three grandchildren, Jared, Conor, and Erin; and his sister, Stephanie, her husband Rich and niece Amanda.
A Catholic mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Toms River, NJ, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
