

Darlene Paras Nye, 66, of Toms River, passed away on Tuesday, May 17 at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born in Cebu City, Philippines, she lived in Antioch CA before moving to Toms River in 1979. For 18 years she was a civilian secretary for the Department of Defense, working at Naval Lakehurst and later at Fort Monmouth. Darlene was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Toms River, serving as a lector, volunteering at the Adoration Chapel and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She loved helping her family and she enjoyed traveling.
She was predeceased by her parents Virgilio and Cornelius Paras. Darlene is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years Douglas E. Nye and many caring family members in the US and the Philippines.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25 at St. Joseph’s Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
