It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Irving Mount Jr, who left us peacefully on July 1st at the age of 85. A proud Marine, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a steadfast friend, he leaves behind a legacy built on honor, laughter, and boundless love.
Born on April 1st 1940, Donald Irving Mount Jr embodied the values of service and dedication throughout his life. His time as a United States Marine instilled in him a deep sense of duty and resilience that he carried proudly strength, honor, and an unbreakable brotherhood with his fellow Marines.
Beyond his military service, Donald was a man who found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. He was most at peace outdoors, whether it was patiently waiting in the woods during hunting season, casting a line into his favorite fishing hole, or feeling the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle. These were not just hobbies for him, but moments where he connected most deeply with the world around him. Above all, Donald cherished the time spent with his beloved wife, Fukiko. Their enduring love was a testament to partnership and devotion. Together they built a family and a lifetime of memories, creating a warm home filled with laughter, stories, and the comfort of being truly loved.
His grandchildren were the light of his life. He never missed an opportunity to share his wisdom, teach them about the outdoors, or simply enjoy their company. To them, he was not just “Grandpa,” but a hero, mentor, and their biggest supporter.
Donald is survived by Fukiko, Kathy, Russell Michael Guarino(Son In Law) Valerie (Daughter In Law) & his grandchildren Michael, Lexus, Jonah, Sara & Sydney as well as many dear friends who were lucky enough to know his generosity, quick wit, and kind heart.
His memory will forever be etched in the stories we share, the traditions we carry on, and the love that binds us together. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace watching sunsets from the best seat in the house.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be held on July 11th from 4-8pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753 with family and friends are invited to come and share their memories.
Semper Fi, Grandpa. We’ll carry your love and stories with us always!
