She lived in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Dottie was born on August 15, 1934, and grew up in Bergenfield, NJ. That’s where she met and married her high school sweetheart. Theirs was a true partnership, loving and supportive until Jack’s passing in 1997. They raised 3 children in Freehold, NJ. Dottie was an active member of the PTA and the Women’s Club of Colts Neck. She was also a candy striper at Freehold Hospital. She competed in a bowling league, was an avid bridge player, and an incredibly accomplished crafter, favoring needlework, crochet and sewing.
In retirement, they moved to Greenbriar Woodlands where she continued her work raising funds for causes such as Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital and Dottie’s House Women’s Shelter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially if it involved playing cards. Dottie moved to Nettles Island, FL. She enjoyed her hobbies; cards with friends, tennis and volunteering at Saint Lucie Hospital.
Dottie is survived by her children Doreen (Ron) Wilson, Judy Celeste (Rich Hancock), and Pete (Kara) Celeste. She has 9 grandchildren: Peter Celeste, Brian Wilson, Laura Tybor, Steven Wilson, Jason Celeste, Celeste Green, Sara Hanlon, Kate Celeste and Christopher Hanlon. She has eight great grandchildren.
Dottie had a smile that lit up the room and a contagious laugh. She and Jack traveled the world, a love that she continued well into her seventies. She was quick to lend a hand to family, friends and strangers alike. She found joy in helping others and passed that tradition on to her children. The world is a better place because she was in it and she will be missed by all.
