Dorothea Ruth Gaughran

Dorothea Ruth Gaughran, 86, of Toms River, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Green Acres Manor. Born in the Bronx, NY, she lived in Lakewood for many years before moving to Toms River in 2005. Dorothea enjoyed knitting and crocheting special gifts for family and friends. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who will be dearly missed by her family.

She was predeceased by her husband Bernard, her parents Frank and Florence Reed, brother and sister-in-law Frank and Thelma Reed, nephew Walter Reed and sister-in-law Catherine Reed. Surviving are her devoted children and their spouses, Patricia and John Steeper, John and Debbie Gaughran, Elizabeth and Glenn David and Bernard and Leann Gaughran; three brothers Robert and his wife Janet, George and his wife Patricia and Walter; her sister Marian and her husband Sam; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A Committal Service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
