Douglas John Jenkinson

Douglas John Jenkinson (Papa Rug) of Forked River, as passed away peacefully at the age of 94, Douglas was born on October 31, 1927, to John Jenkinson and Margaret (Gaffey) Jenkinson of Hanover, NJ. He is predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Henry) Jenkinson and sister, Madelyn (Jenkinson) Picone. His brother, Clifford Jenkinson currently lives in Hanover.

After living in Hanover, Douglas started a life and family with Catherine (Muzz) Jenkinson in Marlboro and was the Chief of the Marlboro Fire Department. Douglas was the father of two children, George and Catherine. He worked for Jersey Central Power and Light in Forked River, which brought him to Forked River, where he has lived for over 50 years. Douglas and Catherine traveled domestically and abroad enjoying life to the fullest. Throughout retirement, they enjoyed warm and sunny winters in Florida. Initially traveling throughout Florida in their motorhome and eventually became a homeowner in Hobe Sound, Fl. He enjoyed his time growing vegetables in the garden and was an active member of the Lacey Garden Club. He is survived by his son, George and wife Linda and grand-daughter Christina and Frank, and Great Grandkids: Ashleigh, Max Joseph and Nathan. He is also survived by his daughter, Catherine and grand-daughter Kara and husband Joel and Great Grandkids: Brandon and Kelsey. Also, grand-daughter Amanda and husband Charlie, Great-Grand-kids Elizabeth, and Charlie. Visiting will be on Friday, July 8th between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
