

Edward A. "Ted" DeMott Jr., 72, of Beachwood, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at home. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he lived in Seaside Park before moving to Beachwood in 1960. Ted was a member of the Beachwood Police Department for 32 years, retiring at the rank of Captain in 1994. He was also the owner of Ted's Gun Shop and Triple T Canoes. Ted opened Triple T Canoes in 1980 with his beloved wife June, who he missed dearly after her death. He was a member of Beachwood/Pine Beach PBA Local 253; Ocean County Chiefs of Police Association; a lifetime member of the N.R.A.; Central Jersey Gun Club; the F.O.P.; Lacey Elks; Harmony Lodge #18 F.& A.M. of Toms River; Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club; and Ground Swipers Rod & Gun Club in Forked River. Ted was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle, shooting, hunting, horseback riding, skiing, camping and his John Deere tractor. Most of all, he loved being with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by many who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by his wife Myrna "June" DeMott in 2007. Surviving are his sons Edward A. "Teddy" DeMott III and his wife Nancy of Bayville and Danny DeMott of College Station, TX; his daughter Tami Oldham and her husband Bill of Beachwood; his sister Betty Jane Matejkowski and her husband Stanley of Seaside Heights; and six cherished grandchildren Brian, Kate, Timothy, Teddy IV, Milo and Giada.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, P.O.
