Ed was born on September 26, 1957 in Moses Lake, Washington. As a military brat; he lived his early life throughout the United States, Taiwan, and Greece. Ed finally settled in New Jersey when his father retired from the Air Force. In Toms River, he met his loving wife, Sharon, and raised his three beautiful children. Like his father, Ed also served his country. He served in the United States Navy during the Iran - Iraq conflict and he proudly recognized himself as a U.S. Navy veteran.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Shelden; his son, Edward Shelden and wife Christine; his daughter, Tayler Shelden Fresca; his daughter Lacie Martin and husband Matthew; his adoring four grandchildren: Edward and Remi Shelden, Bradley Fresca, and Madison Martin; his sister Susanne Heaton and Step-Mother Linda Shelden.
Ed was the owner/operator of K.V.A Electric for the majority of his life. He made his own schedule and lived by his own rules. His signature attire was basketball shorts, a fishing t-shirt, and flip flops no matter the occasion. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family, and time in his backyard looking after his various fruit trees, his garden, and his koi pond which was the size of a small swimming pool. Ed was also an avid pet owner with many dogs, bunnies, lizards, geese, turtles, and a goat over the years. He did anything to make his children happy. He had a collection of anything you could think of, and his family loved him for it.
Ed always had something to say and was always eager to give his opinion. He loved to share experiences and hear about your life. He was generous; not just with money, but with things you never anticipated needing. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and he loved the Fourth of July fireworks. His booming voice and belly laughter will certainly be missed. His children will always fondly remember him as a strong, caring, dependable, and loving father who was an honest man.
Ed is predeceased by his father Edward Theodore Shelden (US Air Force Veteran), mother Betty Joyce Shelden, and brother Daniel Shelden.
