Harry A. McCall

Harry A. McCall, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Pine Beach, NJ on September 3, 2026. Born and raised in Highland Park and North Brunswick, Harry was an alumnus of New Brunswick High School Class of 1971. He went on to earn a BS in Marine Science from Stockton University in 1975, and later a Master's degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management from New York University in 1992.

Harry dedicated 43 years to the railroad and transit industry, overseeing all phases of occupational and industrial safety. Throughout his distinguished career, he worked with Amtrak, URS, Hudson Bergen Light Rail, Charlotte NC Area Transit System, and finally as a railway client consultant with AECOM. Notably, Harry also participated in safety oversight efforts at the World Trade Center site following the events of September 11.

From his childhood family vacations on the Connecticut Sound, Harry developed a deep, lifelong love for boating and fishing. He was a strong, quiet man who could fix just about anything and always remained calm under pressure. He possessed a quick wit peppered with a heavy dose of sarcasm - often resulting in a sharp, discreet elbowing from his wife, Debbie.

Harry and Debbie were a textbook example of opposites attracting. They met in 1978, married in 1988, and raised their son, Ricky, in Milltown before later moving to Pine Beach in 2016. For many years, the family enjoyed countless outdoor adventures, boating, fishing, and skiing at their vacation cabin on Wolf Lake in the Catskills, NY. More recently, Harry and Debbie enjoyed spending their time as part-time snowbirds in Bonita Springs, FL.

With the gentle support of his family and friends, Harry was able to spend his final days at home on hospice, looking out at the river view he loved so much.

Harry will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Debbie; his beloved son, Rick and wife Maria; and his precious grandsons, Nicholas and Derek. He is also survived by his sisters, Trudi Van Dyke and husband George, and Sandi Hoppe and husband Cal; his brother, Madison McCall and wife Dorothy; his sister-in-law, Donna Norton; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

A celebration of Harry’s life for family and friends is planned for 1PM, October 12 at B2Bistro 125 Bayview Ave Bayville, NJ.
