

Harry was born in Medford, MA, the son of Lyman and Margaret (nee Logan) Walker. Following graduation from Brookline High School in 1958, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as a medic at various military bases in New York, Taranto, Italy, Wiesbaden, Germany, Texas and Vietnam. Harry met Lieutenant, Mary Ellen Ernst while they were stationed at Big Springs Air Force Base, Texas, and married in 1967. Harry received his Associates Degree in Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force. His last assignment was at the Pentagon in Virginia before retiring in 1978 with the rank of USAF Master Sargent.
He moved his family back to Medford, MA and worked for Blue Cross of Massachusetts and later as a Data Processing manager for GTE/Sylvana Lighting in Danvers, MA until 1997.
As a resident of New Jersey, he became a member of the Knights of Columbus Rev. Gephart Braumgart Council #8415 of Seaside Park, and worked in “Simon’s Kitchen” serving meals to the needy. He was a 4th Degree Member of Our Lady of Lourdes Assembly #2143 at St. Martha’s Parish, Brick. He continued to be active with the St. Maximilian Kolbe Council #10899 in Toms River and served in the parish as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher.
Harry was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10185 in Berkeley Township. He served on the Board of the Silver Ridge Park West community as a Trustee and later as Librarian. He enjoyed being a member of the Men’s Club and Bowling League.
He was predeceased by his daughter Kristin Ellen Walker in 2005 and his wife Mary Ellen Walker in 2007. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Susan (Raymond) Hillers of Middletown, Jane (Jeffrey) Harris of Verona, Margaret Ernst of Toms River and Lisa (Joseph) Castellano of Naples, Florida, his uncle Edward Milza of Staten Island, NY and maternal cousins Elaine (Jim) Connolly of Sandwich, MA and Mary Jane O’Leary of Chatham, MA. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends across the country.
A visitation for Harry will be held Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 2:00PM to 6:00Pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. A Mass will be offered Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11:00AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ 08757. Burial will take place on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 1:00PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church or Knights of Columbus Council 10899, Toms River, NJ.
