Howard Elsworth Allen

Howard Elsworth Allen, "Pop Pop," of Toms River, was born in Hempstead, NY on April 30, 1932 and passed away on January 8, 2015. He was 82 years old. Howard was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Anna, his parents and 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his five children and their spouses -- Howard and Pam Allen, Donna and Bob Daber, Debbie and Rob Calabro, Dennis and Roselle Allen and Kim and Paul Velke; 18 grandchildren and their spouses -- Tiffany and Jason Hollenback, Robert and Danielle Daber, Kristin and Adam Houlihan, Christina and Mike Furey, Danielle Allen, Brittany and Dennis Allen, Kim Calabro and Evan Hart, Kayla, Robert and Ryan Calabro, Nicole and Brian Whitman, Lisa and Dan Daber, Scott, Mark, Valeri and Joey Velke; nine great-grandchildren -- Zachary and Dominic Hollenback, Arianna and MiKayla Daber, Hannah and Madelyn Houlihan, Payton and Mason Furey and Rylan Whitman; and many friends. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly during the Korean War. He was a recipient of both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor; he remained active in various veterans' groups.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan 12, 2015 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Interment will be private. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.
