Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he lived in Silver Ridge Park, Toms River before moving to Bayville in 2014. He was employed as a Union Carpenter, and in his free time, enjoyed cards, pool, and soccer.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jeannie Clelland Hamilton.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Hamilton; daughters, Tracy Bacon and her husband Jerry Bacon, Christina Stuhl and her husband Roy Stuhl; and his grandchildren, Griffin James Bacon, Sarah Stuhl, and Kaelyn Stuhl.
Cremation will be private.
