

James (Jimmy) Hayes, age 64, of Toms River, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Community Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, he moved to Brick, NJ for 16 years, and then moved to Toms River, NJ where he has resided for the past 19 years. He worked as a Building Equipment Mechanic for the US Postal Service for 39 years. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents James and Lena (Sis) (Clancy) Hayes; and 4 brothers Bobby, Richie, Michael and Brian. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Joann (Austin) Hayes; 2 daughters Dawn Hayes and Tara Hayes; son James Hayes and his wife April Hayes; brother Kevin Hayes and his wife Debbie Hayes; 5 grandchildren Matthew, Alexa, Madalyn, Riley and Dylann; brother and sister in law Harry and Marilyn Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Giants and enjoyed fantasy sports, watching movies and crabbing with his grandchildren. He loved spending time in Atlantic City, NJ and taking trips to Florida. Jimmy was a hard worker spending many of his years working two jobs. He was loved by all for his kind and outgoing personality.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at St. Joseph’s Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
