Born October 1, 1970 to the late Thornton E. and Gwendolyn Smith, he was known to a lot as "Big James", he was a "Gentle Giant", with a heart of gold.
James leaves to mourn his death his mother, Gwendolyn Smith of Manchester; his grandmother, Irene Smith of Neptune; his sister, Thornette Smith of Manchester; his brother, Timothy Smith of Manchester; 3 children, Kya Kearney, James Kearney, Darien Smith of South Toms River;
a special nephew Tyrone Smith of Manchester and 2 nieces, Aria and Amira, a special companion, Myisha Hudley and baby Tamara, of Lakewood; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2015 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 W, Toms River, NJ.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with interment at Monmouth Memorial Park immediately following.
