Jane Ellen Halligan

Jane Ellen Halligan, age 63, of Island Heights, NJ, passed away on April 22, 2015, at University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Born in Lakewood, NJ, in 1951, Jane graduated from Toms River H.S. South in 1968. She received a degree in Dental Hygiene from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1971. She went on to receive a bachelors degree in Business from Rutgers, Douglas Campus, and a masters degree at Regis College in Denver, CO. Jane had a lifelong love of the water that started in the Beachwood Sailing Program, and was an active member of the Toms River and Island Heights Yacht Clubs. She was an avid knitter and was a member of several knitting groups. Jane's biggest love was her grandchildren. Her happiest times were with them in the kitchen making cookies and laughing.

She was predeceased by her father Joseph Herbert Johnson. Surviving is her beloved husband Francis X. Halligan Jr.; her mother Agnes Jane Johnson of Beachwood; two sons: Kris Michael Tompkins and his wife Kallie of Toms River, and Sean Allen Tompkins and his wife Diana of Fairfield, CT; two brothers: Joseph Johnson of Beachwood, and Jon Johnson and his wife Sue of Tinton Falls, NJ; one sister Judi Johnson Tinton Falls, NJ; brother-in-law Dr.Gregory E. Halligan M.D. of Toms River; grand-children: Colette, Eden, Sadie, and Hannah, and Benjamin Michael; nephew John Robert; and two nieces: Alexandria and Angela and her husband Anand.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 25, 10 AM at St. Joseph RC Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River. Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ, is in charge of arrangements.
