Obituary of Jesus I Garcia MD
Dr. Jesus I. Garcia, 85, of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. A 1962 graduate of the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine, Dr Garcia later immigrated to the United States in 1969 and completed Surgery Residencies at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Garcia established his medical practice, Dover Park Medical Associates, P.A., in 1975 and practiced until 2006. He was a well-loved and highly respected surgeon at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Dr. Garcia also served as the Police Surgeon for Dover Township Police Department from 1979-2006. He was also an active member and Past President of the American Society of Abdominal Surgeons. Dr. Garcia was born in Bayambang, Pangasinan, Philippines to Jose Moya Garcia and Catalina Itchon Garcia on October 7, 1936. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Manuel I. Garcia, Dr. Enrico I. Garcia, Justice Oscar I. Garcia, Atty. Sergio I. Garcia, Violeta G. Jose, Dr. Isabel G. Saldana, Dr. Thelma G. Abiva, and Wilhelmina Garcia. Dr. Garcia is survived by his loving wife Milagros L. Garcia; his children and grandchildren, Jose Garcia; Jonas Garcia and his son with Casey Garcia, Kyan Garcia; Dr. JoAnn Garcia-Warren and husband Christopher and their children James Warren and Lia Warren; Jonathan Garcia and his children with Rania Michail, Ethaniel Garcia and Mika Garcia. His surviving siblings are Dr. Hortencia I. Garcia and Josephine G. DeGuzman. Dr Garcia was the quintessential patriarch of the family. It was customary for him to help extended family members navigate the complexities of living in the US, establish their careers and find their own homes. He was a family man to the core. Dr. Garcia loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. When he wasn’t golfing, sleep-watching TV, or observing his grandkids run through his house, he was documenting their lives, and all family events through photography. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2pm – 5pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church located at 1674 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755.
