Jo was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1937. She grew up in Summit, NJ, and graduated from Summit High School in 1956. After high school, Jo worked at National State Bank in Summit. She later met and fell in love with her husband, John, and they got married in 1966. In 1973, they moved to Toms River, where Jo and John, along with her brother Tony and his wife Grace, started a business, A&J Sunoco. She later resumed banking, where she continued working in the banking industry until she retired to help take care of her grandchildren.
Jo was a Eucharistic minister at St. Catharine of Siena, where she was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society. Jo was devoted to her church, and enjoyed cooking meals for the priests and spreading her faith to those around her.
Throughout her life, Jo flourished in her hobbies, including cooking, playing bingo, taking daytrips to Atlantic City, and attending concerts on the beach. Jo was an avid Yankees fan, cheering on her favorite team through all the good (and even the bad) seasons. She also loved spending time with her family and loved ones, never missing a dance recital, school concert, cheerleading competition, or football game. Jo made friends wherever she went, and will be remembered for her bright spirit and remarkable contributions to the lives of those around her.
Jo was predeceased by her beloved husband, John in 1994; her devoted parents, Virginia and Anthony; her brother, Gennaro (“Gerry”); her sister-in-law, Grace; and her brother-in-law, Mike. Jo is survived by her daughters, Terri, and her husband Brett, of Freehold, and Ginny of Toms River; her granddaughters, Brooke and Paige of Freehold; and her siblings, Christina, and her husband Tony, of New Providence, Mary Ann of Summit, and Orazio (“Tony”) of Beachwood. She was also loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. As a friend and role model to all, she will be greatly missed.
