Born in New York and raised in Sayreville, New Jersey, John lived a life defined by service, dedication, and a deep sense of patriotism. He was a decorated Marine combat veteran and went on to serve for more than 30 years with the New Jersey State Police, a career that was a source of great pride throughout his life. John was devoted, direct, and never short on a story. He loved hiking, fishing, and duck hunting, and he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed traveling, trips into New York City, the theater, and a good restaurant.
Above all, some of his favorite moments were spent with his family, especially his two granddaughters, Ellianna and Kayla, who knew him simply as "Popi." Whether he was in the stands at one of their sporting events or telling them one of his many stories, being part of their lives brought him great pride.
John is survived by Bunny, his wife of 57 years; his children, Dustin and Gina; his son-in-law, Mike; his granddaughters, Ellianna and Kayla; his sister, Paula, and extended family members.
For more than 81 years, John built a life filled with service, experiences, and a proud sense of who he was. He will be remembered in the many roles he held throughout his life, and as a husband, father, brother, Popi, uncle, and friend.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
