John Meyers, 72, of Toms River, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012, at Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in New York City, he lived in Ridgefield Park for many years before moving to the Silver Ridge East section of Toms River in 2001. John was employed by The Village of Ridgefield Park Public Works for 33 years before retiring in 2001. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time at Sliver Ridge East Club House.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew (Whoopie) and James; and his sister, Dorothy Coleman. Surviving are his beloved wife of 44 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Kistner) Meyers; his son, Joseph M. Meyers; a sister, Margaret Ginch of Ridgefield Park; his brother-in-law, Alex Tagliarino; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012, with a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Cremation will be private. Condolences can be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.
