John H. Oeser, 61, of Island Heights, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lakewood, he lived in Toms River before moving to Island Heights in 1985. He worked for Fedway Gateway-Perrone Distribution Company in Mt. Laurel as a sales representative for the past 24 years. For over 40 years John “Johnny O” enjoyed performing music from high school dances to show bands, from Miami Beach’s famous Fontainebleau Hotel to the stage at the Stone Pony, and he loved being a band member of Timepiece and Boccigalupe and The Bad Boys and others throughout his musical career. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends. John was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, coach and friend who was loved by many. He was a source of inspiration and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Sarah Oeser. Surviving are his devoted wife of 29 years Janice (Van Nortwick) Oeser; his loving daughters Erin McGowan and her husband Richard of Toms River and Caitlin Oeser and her longtime boyfriend Jamie Tierney of Island Heights; and two beloved sisters Jeannie Oeser-Williams and her husband Henry of GA and Jami Nikles and her fiancé Dana Eubank of VA. “Spike” will be missed by his cherished grandsons Richard and Rylie.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River.
