Joseph J. Battaglia

Joseph James Battaglia, 64, of Toms River, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2020 with his brother Jimmy by his side. He was born in Newark, NJ. Joseph was a dispatcher for Grone’s Towing Service in Toms River and was a huge part of their family for over 40 years.

Joseph was the true meaning of a gentle giant. A big guy with an even bigger heart. Always ready to lend a helping hand to all, especially those he loved and cared about. He enjoyed being a free spirit, traveling all over the USA with his best friend and younger brother Jimmy. Joseph loved his family deeply and would check on all of us routinely. “Joey” will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents Paul and Lillian Battaglia, and his brother-in-law Edward Trimble. He is survived by his two brothers: Jimmy Battaglia, and Paul Battaglia and wife Carole; his two sisters: Barbara Trimble, and Carol Shackley and husband Bill; many nieces and nephews, and his extended family and friends.
