Joseph J. Caldeira, Sr., 79, of Toms River, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at home. Born in Newark, he lived in Union before moving to Toms River in 1964. For 30 years, Joseph owned and operated Caldeira Brothers Inc., retiring in 1994. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Joseph was a member of the Toms River Country Club; Toms River Elks Club; Sunrise Lodge F & AM in Seaside Heights; and Ocean County 200 Club in Toms River. He was also a member and past president of The Beachwood-Berkeley Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul J. Harris Fellowship Award. He enjoyed his family, dancing, golfing, and bowling.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen in 2002. Surviving are his loving children Joseph J. Caldeira, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Forked River; Cherie Morton and her husband Ray of Wall; his brother George Caldeira of Toms River; and his grandchildren Nicole, Megan, Krista and Raymond; his nephew James P. Byrne of Little Egg Harbor; niece Eileen D’Arcy of Barnegat; and many other caring nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation at www.parkinson.org or Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alzfdn.org in Joseph’s memory.
