

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones. Psalm 116:15 - Karen Louise Abbate, 70, of Manchester, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Queens, NY, she lived in Valley Stream, LI, NY, San Diego, CA and Forked River for many years before moving to Manchester in 2012. She worked for Century 21 Pacesetter Realty Inc. in Forked River as a broker for over 15 years and most recently worked for Manhattan Skyline Management Corp. in Manhattan. Karen was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Toms River. Her passion was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Anne Hrbek. Surviving are her beloved husband of 49 years, Charles T. Abbate; her cherished children Charles D. Abbate and his wife Cheryl, Karenanne Abbate Payton and her husband Bill, and Nicholas J. Abbate; three sisters Barbara Hrbek Zucker and her husband Don; Maureen Palagonia and Deborah Hrbek; and 10 beloved grandchildren Rodney, Emily and Andrew; Ana, Christian, Lauren, Daniel and Mary; Hunter and Noah; and many caring relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Toms River, 700 Main St., Toms River. Burial will follow at Good Luck Cemetery in Lanoka Harbor.
