Margaret Jean Manogg, 88, of Wall Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles “Charlie” Manogg.
Margaret, known as Peggy to friends and Pucky to her grandchildren, was born in Danville, Illinois, on April 6, 1938. The only child of Kurt and Jean Hoffman, she grew up on the family farm in Kenney, Illinois. As a young woman, Peggy helped with farm work and exhibited sheep at local and state 4-H fairs, once earning a grand champion award with a sheep named Pam Sue.
Peggy attended high school in Clinton, Illinois, and earned a nursing degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She went on to a 56-year career as a registered nurse, a profession in which she took great pride, and was also certified by the American Red Cross.
Peggy was previously married to Joseph Powell, with whom she had two children. After their marriage ended, both went on to lead fulfilling lives. In 1977, Peggy married Charlie Manogg, bringing three more children into their blended family. They were married for 34 years and raised their five children in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Peggy and Charlie moved to Deltona, Florida, in 1991 as empty nesters and enjoyed a semi-retired life together. Peggy embraced life with a warm smile and infectious laugh, especially enjoying social gatherings with friends and family. She was always ready for cards, board games, coffee, and dessert, and was well known for humming as she played cards.
As a parent, Peggy remained active in 4-H and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Elks Club, and the Deltona Hills Golf & Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf with Charlie and friends. Above all, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and the focus of her life.
Peggy is survived by her children, Doug, Pam, Dan, Vikki, and Gregg, as well as many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the staff at Sunnyside Manor for the compassionate care they provided Peggy in her later years.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, at 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, Florida. Entombment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local humane society in honor of Peggy’s love and care for animals.
