

Marie McIlvaine Kostyk, 93, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on April 10, 2014, at home. She was born in Roxborough, Philadelphia, PA, in 1920. Marie went to St. John the Baptist Grammar and High School. She was valedictorian of her senior class of 1938 and went on to work as a secretary in Philadelphia. Marie married Edward Kostyk in 1955 and together they had four children.
Mrs. Kostyk was very active in her community and belonged to various clubs, including the Bennevettes. On moving to Toms River, NJ, in 1972, she worked as a real estate agent for Giles Realty in Toms River. She later went on to work for the federal government at Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1986. Marie was a communicant of St. Justin RC Church for over forty years, lecturing at mass for many of those years. She belonged to the Canticle and Rosary Group.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Edward Kostyk in 1999 and her son Paul in 1979. She is survived by her two daughters: Kathleen and Eleanor; her son Edward; her daughter-in-law Carlyn; and two grandsons: Andrew and Kevin. Marie will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the prayer service at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
