Mark was born in Jersey City prior to moving to Wall in 1970. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army stationed at the Scofield Barracks in Hawaii. Afterwards he worked at Universal Auto Parts and Advanced Auto Parts in Neptune. He was well known by his customers to troubleshoot their auto troubles and direct them in the right direction.
Mark had a gift for mechanics, owning every Snap-On tool ever made. He was always there to help a family member or a friend in need, especially when it came to working on their cars, lawn and snow blowers. Mark also loved NASCAR races and enjoyed going to Wall Stadium for Saturday night car races. Mark loved dogs and although he didn’t own one of his own he always carried treats in his pocket for any four- legged friend he would run into.
He was predeceased by his wife Robin (Huemer) Mongon; his father, Robert Mongon.
Mark is survived by his mother Ann of Tinton Falls; siblings, his twin brother Robert (Betty) of Toms River, his sister Eileen Trainor (Patrick) of Wall; his niece and nephews Caitlin, Robert and Joseph; and his great nephew Luca. He is also survived by many dear cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025 at St. William the Abbot Catholic Church, 2740 Lakewood-Allenwood Rd., Howell.
Entombment will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 1:30pm at Brigadier General William Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd., Wrightstown.
