Marylou Van Valkenburg

Marylou was born on June 28, 1941 in Paterson, NJ where she resided throughout her childhood and teenage years. She graduated from East Side High School in Paterson, NJ in 1959. She married her teenage boyfriend Jim Van Valkenberg on January 12, 963. They resided on Vernon Avenue in Paterson and had both their children, Lisa and Jimmy Jr. They moved to Toms River in 1972, where she raised her family and resided until her passing.

Marylou was known for her sense of humor and the love of her family. Marylou found happiness in the simple things in everyday life. If you received subtle jabs from Marylou, you knew you were loved.

Marylou was predeceased in death by her parents, Dutch and Lee Van Wyk and her most treasured sister, Linda Borst. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jim Van Valkenburg Sr., her daughter Lisa and her husband Lou, her son Jimmy Jr. and his wife Lori and her four cherished grandchildren, Karissa, Jimmy III, Jake and Michael along with her loving brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, located at 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753, on February 18, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Mass will take place at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753, on February 19, 2026, starting at 10:00 am.
