Michael James Hegarty, Jr., 76, of South Amboy, NJ, passed away on February 24, 2018 at Bayshore Health Center. Michael was born in Jersey City and lived in Belleville and Old Bridge. Michael graduated Belleville High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was the past owner and operator of the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home in Old Bridge, NJ. Michael belonged to many local service and fraternal organizations and the New Jersey Funeral Directors Association.
He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Helen (Bingle) Hegarty, his brothers Kenneth and Patrick and sister Jane. Surviving are his children Susan, Michael, MaryAnn, and Nicholas; his brothers Terence and Joseph; sisters Louise and Marilyn; and his grandchildren Marisa, Gianna, Nicholas, and Christian.
Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River is in charge of private cremation services.
