

Michael E. Lanni, age 93, of Toms River, died on July 18, 2011, in Brick, NJ. He was born in Woodbridge, NJ. Michael lived in Bayonne before moving to Toms River in 1992. He was a railroad conductor for Penn Central Railroad for 46 years, later known as Conrail, in Newark, NJ. Mike was known for his exceptional work ethic and nicknamed "Mike the Machine". He was a member of the Army Air Corp in WWII and was a flight engineer, flying missions in the European and Pacific theatres.
Surviving is his wife, Augusta Lanni (married 64 Years); one daughter: Michele Woodburn and her husband Steven of Brick; four sons: Michael Thomas and his wife Peggy of Bayonne; Anthony and his wife Jaynellen of Wall Township; Virgil and his wife Bonnie of Brick; and Joseph Michael and his wife Mary Jean of Toms River; thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be Thursday, July 21st, 4 to 9PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A prayer service will be conducted Friday 10AM at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.
