

Nicholas “Nicky Donuts” DeAngelis, 91, of Toms River, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family, Dobermans, and caregiver (Tammi), by his side on June 12, 2023. Born in Orange, NJ he was the son of the late Emanuel and Anna DeAngelis.
Nicholas served proudly in the United States Army as a corporal during the Korean War. He was a longtime prosperous businessman who started out at his family’s clothing factory, E. DeAngelis & Co., in East Newark, New Jersey. Nicholas went on to own several successful Dunkin Donuts restaurants as well as developed many single and multi-family homes throughout New Jersey. He was an avid antique automobile collector who received numerous accolades especially for his 1941 Packard Darrin. Nicholas loved listening to Frank Sinatra and Vic Damone while enjoying a nice cigar. He was an amateur chef and loved living on the water and being on his boat. He will always be remembered as a loving and generous man with a great sense of humor and great love for the Doberman breed.
Nicholas is predeceased by his siblings Frances, Richard, Emanuel Jr., Carmela, Philip and Sarah. He is survived by the love of his life of 55 years, Kathy Ventriglia; his two daughters, Kimberly and her husband Mayor Matthew Anesh of South Plainfield, and Jacquelyn and her partner, Daniel Aquino; grandsons, Joseph and Harrison Anesh, as well as other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
