Norma Sullivan (La Nonna), 85 of Toms River, passed away on August 21, 2026. Born in Astoria, NY, she moved to Toms River in 1973 although she always considered herself a New Yorker. Norma dedicatedly worked for the Toms River Board of Education where she established many wonderful friendships. She was an active member of the Toms River Country Club where she spent many years as the club's social chair. In retirement, Norma focused on all the things she loved best: Northern Italian cooking, Broadway shows, classic Hollywood films (yes, her daughter Tara's name came straight from Norma's favorite movie Gone with the Wind), and mostly, simply being La Nonna to her four grandchildren who she devoted herself to completely. Norma will hopefully be remembered for her unconditional love of family, homemade ravioli's, being proudly Italian, unfiltered exclamations, striking beauty, and for truly being one of a kind.
Norma is predeceased by her loving husband Richard Sullivan, her precious son Richie and her beautiful daughter Tara. She is survived by her devoted daughter Denise Porter and her husband Richard (Chip) Amdur; her adored brother Gary Motta and his children Ronnie and Jessica (Nick) and the most blessed part of La Nonna's life, her cherished grandchildren Billy, Mia, Casey and Carson along with many caring relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow and her daughter Denise's home.
