Paul Best diMarco, 81, of Toms River, NJ passed away on January 13, 2024. Paul was born and raised in Rahway, NJ by his parents, William and Margaret (Best) diMarco and his grandmother. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, K-8th and graduated from Pennington High School. Paul went on to Union College in Barbourville, KY where he received his Masters in English. It was in Kentucky where he met and married his first wife, Vivian France. They moved back to New Jersey and settled in Toms River where Paul spent 35 years as an English teacher in HS South and HS East. He had 2 children with Vivian.
He was a gentle, loving, selfless man. He cared for both of his parents when they were in need and raised both his children on his own. Paul was an attentive, nurturing father and incredible role model to his students. He was a beloved friend to so many. Paul instilled his passion in his life with others which included his love of cats, trains, cars, photography and telling corny jokes. He also enjoyed BMX racing, drawing, literature, and history.
Paul had fallen in love for a second time with his second wife Carol. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage with love, laughter, and beautiful memories together. He embraced Carol’s children and family as part of his own.
Paul is survived by his wife, Carol (Kramer) diMarco, his 4 children, Charlotte (diMarco) Morrison, William diMarco, Raymond McElvaine and Becky (McElvaine) Yurga. Also included are 4 grandchildren, Margaret Emely, Christopher Yurga, Brendan Yurga, and Vance Morrison.
Paul was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by all.
A viewing will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 2pm - 5pm with special services at 3:00pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family asks that all donations be made to St.Jude.org in Paul’s memory.
