Robert Paul Shivers, known as Paul, was beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away while surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a life well lived.
Paul was born on September 24, 1959, to Claire and Mervin Shivers. He was a devoted son to his parents and brother to his sister, Janet, and her husband, Keith Watson. He treasured his family deeply and remained close to them throughout his life.
During his high school and college years, Paul ran cross country, for which he was inducted into the Hopewell Valley Central Hall of Fame. He was a founding father of the Sig Ep fraternity, an accomplishment that was very important to him. His years at West Chester helped shape lifelong friendships that he cherished dearly. He also carried with him the friendships he made during high school, staying connected to the people who had shared so many important chapters of his life.
Paul met the love of his life, Rosemarie “Ree” Shivers, while attending college. They were married on April 24, 1982 and built a beautiful life together. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, family, and a lifetime of shared experiences.
Paul was a proud and loving father to his son Matthew, and his daughter Alexandra. Matthew and his wife Allison together gave Paul two granddaughters, Ellie and Jovie Shivers. Alexandra is married to Jeffrey Hudak, and together they have a son, William Robert Hudak. Paul treasured his grandchildren and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. They brought him immense joy and were among the greatest loves of his life.
Paul found happiness in the simple things: spending time with his family, catching up with old friends, playing cards, music, golf, and playing ping pong at the gym. He had a way of making connections last, and the friendships he formed throughout his life were a testament to the kind of person he was, loyal, genuine, and deeply caring.
Above all, Paul will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends. He was a husband who shared a lifetime with his best friend, a father who was deeply proud of his children, a grandfather who adored his grandchildren, a devoted son, brother, uncle and a friend who never forgot the people who mattered to him.
Paul leaves behind his loving wife, Ree; his children, Matthew and his wife, Allison, and Alexandra and her husband, Jeffrey; his grandchildren, Ellie, Jovie, and William; his parents, Claire and Mervin Shivers; his sister, Janet and her husband, Keith; and the many family members and lifelong friends whose lives he touched.
His memory will live on in the stories shared, the friendships he nurtured, the family he loved so dearly, and the countless moments of laughter and togetherness that made his life so meaningful.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
