Born in Orange, NJ, he grew up in Belleville and lived in Glen Ridge before moving to Ocean County in 1979.
Mr. Benson was a driver for Ocean Ride, and enjoyed boating.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; his children, Rick Benson and his wife Samantha of Chesapeake, VA, Robert Benson and his wife Hong of Manahawkin, and Jaime Tallman of Manahawkin; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Hailey, Christina and her husband A.J., Eric, David, and Joel; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte; his brother, Lane and his wife Patricia of Edison; his nephew Lane and his wife Nicole; his niece, Cheryl; and his great-nephew Tyler.
Services were private under the direction of Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
