

Mr. Gentile was a veteran of the US Army, and a member of VFW Post 9237. A Master Carpenter, he worked for Navarra Homes, Silverton, when he moved to Ocean County. He later worked for Clayton Builders, Beachwood, for many years, and then retired from Ocean County Buildings & Grounds after 17 years. He was a former South Toms River Councilman from 1981-1983, and was Building Inspector there. He was a Boy Scout Leader and assisted his wife with Girl Scouts.
Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty (Walsh) Gentile; his daughters, Donna Lee and her husband Curtis, Dawn Gentile, and Amy Lynn Gentile and her husband Joe Price of Beachwood; his grandchildren, Tyler Michael and Lauren Nichole and her partner Tim D’Ascenzo; his brothers Vito and Michael Gentile; his sister, Joyce Gilberti; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was predeceased by his father Dominick Gentile; his mother Jenny (Bianco) Gentile; his brother Ronald Gentile and his wife Rose Gentile; his sister-in-law JoAnn Gentile; his niece Kelly Ann and nephew Ronald Gentile.
Visitation will be Monday, December 21, 2020 from 5-8pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 7:45pm at the funeral home. Interment will be Tuesday at 1pm at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
Due to Covid restrictions, masks are required to be worn at all times when entering the building and while attending the services. We ask also that you social distance.
