
Richard L. Lockwood, age 87, of Bayville, NJ passed away at home on Wednesday, November 3rd. Born in Trenton, he lived there until the age of 31, shortly after he married his wife Maureen Lockwood in Red Bank, NJ. They moved to Bayville in 1965 to be closer to the shore.
Richard was a loved family man and a Veteran of the US Navy. He spend four years in the service, some of which were spent on the USS Darter (SS-576) Submarine. He worked for PSE&G for 29 years as an electrical inspector. An avid sailor and waterman, he spent his summers sailing the Northeast with his wife Maureen and daughter Kimberley.
In 1995, his grandson, Joshua, was born at which time he retired to spend more time with his family and spend winters in St. Augustine, FL. He was a family first man that was very involved with his grandson’s upbringing and very much enjoyed all of the activities that came with being a grandfather. His passion for the water is survived by his daughter Kimberley and grandson Joshua.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Arlene Lockwood and his twin sister, Joyce Gray. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Lockwood; his daughter, Kimberley Lockwood; his grandson, Joshua Dudas; and Dr. Jeanette Altieri whom he held in a special place in his heart.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Services will be on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 1:30 PM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
